33 The Self-Complacent Classmate
Things had become different and Jing Yunzhao’s class was filled with excitement the day she returned to school after being absent for some time.
Jing Yunzhao might be good at studying but she was not that popular in class, and nobody had wanted to sit next to her. Being stubborn, Jing Yunzhao had moved her table to the back of the classroom so that she wouldn’t bother anyone.
When Jing Yunzhao entered the classroom, she was surprised to notice that her table at the back of the classroom had mysteriously disappeared.
“Jing Yunzhao! We moved your table here!” A boy smiled and said loudly.
Jing Yunzhao’s mind went blank for a second when she saw where her table was.
It was at the so-called ‘prime location’ in the classroom. If she was not mistaken, the class monitor sat next to that spot, the commissary in charge of studies sat in front of it, and another good student of the class sat behind it. It was fair to say that that spot was surrounded by the top students of the class.
As for the class monitor who was going to be her deskmate…
Jing Yunzhao frowned as she thought about it.
The boy was Jiang Xia, one of the top five students of the class and a member of the basketball team. He was on the school hunks list, though ranked towards the end of the list.
Jing Yunzhao remembered all that not because of how outstanding he was, but because of how aggressively he had courted her in her previous life. He had wanted to dump her after she accepted him just to embarrass her, but she had been thrown behind the bars before his plan could work. Deciding that there was no need to be nice to her anymore, Jiang Xia had told her the truth mockingly in the end.
The truth was that even though Jiang Xia had tried so hard to get her back then, she had only felt touched but not loved.
Never had she expected that the man who made her feel so touched was actually a liar who was only using her to please Qiao Hongye, and the truth had taken away almost all the light in her heart.
So instead of disagreeing, Jing Yunzhao walked to her table and took her seat when she recalled what Jiang Xia had done to her in her previous life.
“We were wrong about you, Jing Yunzhao, and I apologize on the class’s behalf. Also, this is the best spot in class. We can learn from each other from now on,” Jiang Xia got up from his chair and said in front of everyone.
“Thank you, Jiang Xia,” said Jing Yunzhao politely, not as excited as Jiang Xia had expected.
Jiang Xia got upset at Jing Yunzhao’s indifferent attitude.
There were plenty of girls in the class who had a crush on him and they all wished that they could sit next to him. How could she not be excited when he had taken the initiative to put her table beside his?
Although upset, Jiang Xia maintained his smile and sat back down knowing that he couldn’t show his real feelings in front of his classmates.
“I heard that you are not staying with your family anymore, Jing Yunzhao, did you fight with them? Parents always mean the best for their children, it’s just that their ways of showing love might be different. I think you shouldn’t take it to heart. Go home this Friday and admit your mistake, I am sure everything will be fine if you apologize…” Jiang Xia started to nag her as soon as he sat down.
Jing Yunzhao couldn’t help but notice that Jiang Xia was actually an extremely annoying person, which she hadn’t realized in her previous life.
Jing Yunzhao opened her book without looking at Jiang Xia as if she had not heard him at all.
“Why aren’t you saying anything? Are you upset? It doesn’t have to be like this. Isn’t Qiao Hongye from Class 2 your sister? She looks like a good girl, I am sure she would be willing to help you if you explain the situation to her and your father would definitely forgive you. I don’t mind helping talk to Qiao Hongye if you don’t want to. I will talk to her during recess. It’s just apologizing, there is nothing difficult about that…”
