A whole crowd of maids fit themselves in Michael’s bathroom. They were all marveling at the strange non-magic water that was flowing through this thing called a ‘faucet’.
“This doesn’t make sense! How is it flowing so fast?”
“Is there someone blowing water from behind it?”
Beretta stared down Michael. “Young master, did you make this yourself?”
He nodded.
“How?” they all asked, their eyes burning with curiosity.
Michael shrugged his shoulders. “It’s nothing special, really. I just used the gravity and pressure to my advantage. To explain in easy terms, water flows down because of gravity, and if you connect pipes…”
He gave them a small lecture on how water pressure worked. Of course, these were all the words that he gained from ChatJK1, which was why he sounded like he knew what he was doing.
The maids didn’t know that. And when they kept listening to the young master’s words, they couldn’t help but be shocked at his apparent intelligence. They thought that the faucet was magic, but when they heard how simple the idea was, they couldn’t believe no one had thought of it before.
“Young master! You’re a genius!” one of the maids praised him.
“We must tell this to Madam at once! She’ll be shocked to learn that he is not only sharp in looks but also in mind.”
Michael raised his hand and stopped them.
“I’d appreciate it if you didn’t tell my mother before she came home. I don’t want to interrupt their business.”
The only reason why Michael could have free reign to do whatever he wanted in the mansion was because his parents were out of town for a considerable amount of time. No one was there to stop him.
But if she came home and saw this, he didn’t know how they would react.
“Young master, what’s this?”
One of the maids finally noticed the suspicious bowl of metal right next to the sink. Instead of being installed in the wall, this large bowl was installed into the very flooring itself.
There was already water inside this bowl, but there wasn’t any faucet above it.
“Oh, that? I call that a toilet.”
This was the very reason why he wanted running water installed in the house in the first place.
Michael spent five years of his life here in this world, having to do his business in the bushes or in a literal pot!
People were already used to the smell of feces in this world because it was normal for them. But for Michael who lived in a clean world, it was far too much to bear.
That was until Michael created a proper plumbing system.
For now, he couldn’t create a proper filtration system, so all the flushed water would flow down the pipes and reach the river a couple of ways away from the house.
He was planning on improving it later on, but for now, this would do.
“What does it do?”
“Oh, I know! It’s for drinking, right?”
Michael immediately shook his head.
“No, but I’ll show you.”
He walked over to the toilet and pushed a button on top of the toilet tank.
And suddenly.
WOOSH!
The water sunk down the toilet pipes and created the flushing sound that Michael was so familiar with back in his old world.
But for the maids, the sound was like a thunderous roar from a monster, making them think that it was hidden somewhere under that ‘toilet’ bowl.
All the maids were caught off guard and nearly jumped out of the room!
“What is that?!”
“Young master, is that some kind of animal?”
Michael laughed. “No, no. This is called a toilet. It’s where you do your…business…”
The maids were still apprehensive of the toilet, but Michael’s words piqued their curiosity.
“You mean…business as in business? Like number one and number two?”
Michael nodded. “You sit down at this bowl and do your business. And once you’re done, you push this button here and all the water is going to be flushed out, along with all the business you dropped in the toilet. And finally, you wash your hands in the faucet. Once you’ve done that, you’re all clean!”
One of the maids had a curious look on her face.
“Where does it go after you’ve ‘flushed’?”
“I connected the pipes to the river near the mansion.”
They all gasped, finally realizing the potential of this toilet.
After all, they were the ones in charge of cleaning all that business that everyone in the house created. They would manually shovel it out and dispose of it in the river, making for a really laborious task.
They still weren’t done after that. They would also spend a lot of water and elbow grease to clean the latrines or dirty pots in the house.
But with this ‘toilet’, they didn’t have to do that. Since everything was flushed down with a simple push of a button, they didn’t have to ‘dirty’ their hands.
Not only that, they’ll also be getting rid of the smell!
“This is a game changer! I’ve never heard of it before!”
“Young master…this…this invention of yours…is beyond genius!”
“A marvelous work of water! You’re even more mystifying than some mages, young master!”
The maids couldn’t praise him enough. They inspected the faucet and the toilet as if they were made with nothing but gold.
Some of them got so excited with the fascinating running water of the faucet that they ended up splashing themselves in a playful manner.
“Hahahaha” Michael laughed. He had the same reaction with them the moment he finished the plumbing system.
“Okay, okay, enough! This is unbecoming of you guys. We are professional!”
Beretta immediately stopped the young maids from being too rude. They were having fun and playing as if this wasn’t the young master’s personal bathroom. They were already being disrespectful the moment they crowded the room.
“Out! Out, before I tell the Madam that you all went to the young master’s room.”
The maids quickly straightened their backs and left the room, completely terrified about the prospect of the Madam getting jealous of them.
Beretta also left the room, making sure to keep them in line.
In the end, Michael was left all alone to enjoy the fruits of his hard labor.
