Inside the classroom, the noise settled down as everyone watched as an owl man entered the room. The owl man was up in age, and his white long beard attested to that. He stroked it gently as he took a deep breath. "Some of you must be crying right now because this class involves using numbers. Calculations, in fact. This is a necessity for the creation of magic circles in order to do things like limit its power or set up certain safety formations to keep it from being used by others. Now let me get one thing straight, I know there are commoners and nobles alike in this room. As well as a hero." The owl man's eyes fell on Kana for a few seconds before continuing. "But let me make it very clear here and now. I do not care about your background or your family name. Your prestige means nothing to me. If you do not do well in this class, you will fail. It's that simple. I go by what I see, not what is backing you. Just like the young noble boy in the hallway who decided to make the wall his strange art display. "So do not come up to me waving around your titles or family names because I could give two shits. And do not think just because I am old that I am weak. Everyone in the class's mouth fell open. Even Kana was stunned at the change of attitude. One student didn't understand what was going on and asked: "Sir, you just said that status and titles mean nothing to you. Why is it that this student is getting special privileges?"
The owl man glared at the student, who was a young cow man, and shouted: "Your right status and titles do not mean anything to me. But I am old. If I anger someone stronger than me, it will hurt! So why the fuck would I go around angering someone who can take on an entire army!? Are you stupid!? How the hell did you enter the academy!? Go to the dean this instance and tell him to throw your ass out!"
"Sir… I… I..." The young cow man's eyes began to turn red. He never thought a simple question would get him kicked from the academy.
"I-I what? Your stupid? We already know! Why haven't you scrammed yet!?" The owl yelled.
Kana frowned… "Sir, are you not being a little too unreasonable?"
The owl man looked at Kana and began nodding his bread repeatedly. "Yes, yes, I am too unreasonable! Young lad, you stay. I will give you fifty credits as an apology."
The young cow man sniffled and looked over at Kana with a grateful look. Kana just gave him a nod before saying: "Can we start class now?"
At this moment, Kana became a goddess in everyone's eyes within the class. As for the Owl Man, he adjusted his glasses and stroked his beard before opening the folder in front of him. "Ahem, yes… You all may call me Mr. Lambert. We will begin with the fundamentals of magic circles and why we use them."
Mr. Lambert began drawing a simple magic circle on the board. Kana opened her notebook and began copying the things he was doing. Now that her intelligence was high, just looking at something now allowed her to memorize it instantly. So no matter how fast Mr. Lambert went, she could easily keep up.

If you are off by even a smidge, the magic circle may lock you out completely. Nowadays, many do not lock magic circles in such a way unless they wish to keep something a secret. There is also a combination lock addition to this that if you use a few more signs along with a corresponding number, you can lock the magic circle that way, and anyone who knows the numbers can easily use the magic circle. This method is simpler and easier to learn. But we will not begin with an easy to learn technique! We will start off with the first method."
"Ugh, I am already confused!" Kiliffia whined as she massaged her temples. She was already lost on what the teacher was saying. She had never been one to learn well in a classroom environment. She was always a hand on type of person.
"You in the back! How dare you speak while I'm teaching! " Mr. Lambert suddenly yelled out while pointing at Kiliffia.
"Sorry!" Kiliffia quickly bowed her head and apologized.
"Sorry!? If sorry was enough to fix things, would we need knights? Would we need wars or laws!?" Mr. Lambert yelled, his anger rising even more.
Kana let out another sigh as she patted the top of Kiliffia's head: "Mr. Lambert, it was me who spoke out just now..."
"Oh? Well… If that is the case, then never mind. Let's continue." Mr. Lambert retracted his gaze and quickly went back to explaining things
