This time it was she who interrupted me. “You’re right. I don’t think, I know that I want to be your woman, Quinlan. Will you accept me?”
I can’t help but smile inwardly for a moment. Who would’ve guessed that such a beautiful woman would confess to me, asking for permission to be mine. Certainly not me a few weeks ago.
I lifted my palm from her shoulder and instead cupped her cheeks in both of my hands. “Welcome to the family, my beloved Lucille.” My statement elicited the most beautiful, purest smile I’ve seen from her. She was so incredibly elated, relieved, excited, and simply overjoyed.
