Roco nodded and kneeled in front of Jiang Chen. “Please forgive my actions. I was blinded by greed,” he said, sweating and feeling immense shame, but determined to live on without caring about it.
Jiang Chen was amazed and unsure how to handle the situation. The once arrogant young master was now begging for mercy in front of him. He also sensed danger from Dave but was relieved that Dave wasn’t his enemy and had been kind to him.

Dave became interested and commanded Roco to lead the way.
Dave decided to bring Jiang Chen along and talk to him. Upon scanning Jiang Chen, he realized he was a protagonist-type character with overflowing luck. Dave knew that even if he hadn’t saved Jiang Chen earlier, he would still be fine and eventually benefit from the experience, becoming stronger. On the other hand, Roco might have sought revenge, and Jiang Chen could have been hunted down by Roco’s family.

The plot had been set, so Dave decided to interfere further and befriend Jiang Chen, making him owe a favor. He had learned about Jiang Chen’s origin from the sword art he displayed. He had asked Old Ming about many things, and Old Ming had told him about the five sword saints in the Alexander Clan. One of them was called the Mist Sword Saint, known for being elusive and preferring a simple life. Dave found it surprising that Jiang Chen didn’t know this information, but he assumed it was part of the protagonist’s training and thus kept it from him.

He was also intrigued by Jiang Chen’s physique called the Sword Immortal Body. It was on par with his own Sword Heart Body, but it had different abilities. The Sword Immortal Body allowed its owner to control any sword at will, absorb swords to strengthen the body and comprehension and wield any sword art with ease.
Given that Jiang Chen’s name had appeared in other novels about sword experts, Dave believed he would become a formidable figure in the future. He saw his investment in befriending Jiang Chen as worthwhile and thought that Jiang Chen would be useful to him in the long run.
The Sword Immortal Body was useless to Dave, and the system hadn’t given him a mission related to it. Others might raise the price of an item during the auction, only to give up and tease the other party.
