After a couple of rounds with Selene, she returned to the Tower, where she and the rest of Kent’s ladies would spend weeks with Alina, getting to know each other.
Kent, on the other hand, was now alone in the mini-mansion.
In the coming days, he might enter the sword garden, according to his master. But that was in the coming days.
He wanted to become very strong, so he would be sparring with the Spear Saintess, who had become a monster after her last enlightenment.
His master would also be his sparring partner, but he would first take her to start walking the path meant for her. This was his next big reward for her.
He also planned to see if he could strengthen his relationship with the gate master. This way, he would even have another powerful swordsman to train with.
But first, he had to handle something.
Uncle Drew and Saden are back from their mission, and according to Gaia, they are secretly surveying the sect as if they are looking for something.
He wants to find out what they are looking for and, if possible, help them find it.
So he waited until evening since he knew they wouldn’t risk entering the sect during the day. They are night riders, so the night is for them.
“You can come out now,” Kent called out just as the moon appeared.
A second later, two figures clad in dark, hooded clothes emerged from the darkness, their eyes glowing green.
“Congratulations on your mission,” Kent said to them, then turned to Saden. “I hope your revenge was as you expected it.”
Saden turned to her human form and nodded. Of course, Kent could tell something was wrong, but he didn’t ask immediately.
He turned to Uncle Drew, who was now also in his human form.
“Since you are here, I presume you want something… Care to share what that is?” he asked.
“I believe the next Night Rider is in this sect, so we came to look for her. But after surveying the sect, we couldn’t find anything,” Uncle Drew said, making Kent raise an eyebrow.
“A ‘her,’ and she’s a potential Night Rider? If you don’t mind me asking, how did you know that?” Kent inquired. For now, he simply didn’t understand how Uncle Drew did it.
When he made him a Night Rider back when he was teetering between life and death, Kent had never asked for details or sought answers. Now, however, he wanted to know just how Uncle Drew identified the Night Riders.
“I am the captain of the Night Riders, so I have the eyes to see and know my fellow Riders. You are my master, so you should also have that ability. But for it to manifest, you must first undergo the Trial of the Night, which you are not ready for just yet.
“Basically, I can sense and know the location of the next Night Rider. When it was time for their awakening, I could sense and go to them,” Uncle Drew said thoughtfully.
“I sensed Saden when I left Caprath City back then, and a few weeks after that, I sensed Eryndor. Now, I am sensing a new member inside this sect, but I am not getting their true location for some reason.
“But I know they are inside this sect, and I intend to find out, considering she might be dying as we speak. I can sense it; I don’t know the direction. Something evil is preventing me,” Uncle Drew explained.
Kent nodded and processed what he had just heard. In a way, it all made sense. But he also wanted to know how all of this was possible. Of course, his curiosity would have to be put aside for now.
“This is really interesting. I also sensed something evil inside this sect when I walked in for the first time. Of course, I brushed it aside, considering I am also evil. But now that you mention it, it seems an evil presence does exist in this sect.
“But the question is, who or where is this evil coming from?”
“Indeed. I tried to get a general direction of this evil intent, but nothing worked. I believe someone or some people are walking the path of evil, which is why I can’t sense her,” Uncle Drew replied.
Kent sighed.
“That is rather unfortunate. But if the next Night Rider is inside this sect and someone or some people are preventing her from being seen, then it means the force at play is not one to be underestimated.”
“Indeed. But I must find her before it’s too late. If a rider is sensed but not found and dies, it affects the whole legion. So I have to find her no matter what and help her awaken.”
Kent didn’t say anything. He just sat there thinking. Since Gaia said nothing, it means she wasn’t even about to say anything, regardless of what she knew.
But that doesn’t mean she wouldn’t help. She already said spoon-feeding him would be bad, but using quests to spoon-feed him isn’t bad at all. At least he will put in the effort.
So Kent sighed in his heart, and for the first time since he was given the Universe Quest Pool, he made a wish for a quest.
‘Universe Quest Pool, help me find the trapped Night Rider.’ That was all he thought, but the next second, the quest appeared, and it was a big one.
