“Look, we’re almost there. That’s the mountain pass,” Lily pointed her finger into the distance. “The Kobold camp must be located somewhere near a cave. They’re cold-blooded creatures and like to stay in darker and colder areas.”
“Exactly, just like snakes or lizards, they dwell within caves and only come out at night when the atmosphere is colder,” added Anna Grace.
“Let’s first reach the vicinity of the mountain pass. Then we’ll look for any footprints that will allow us to locate their camp easily,” Yuan said. He was certain the kobolds had attacked many passing merchants or carriages at night, prompting the hunter association to put a mission to exterminate them.
A few moments later, they arrived at the vicinity of the mountain pass, witnessing numerous parts of destroyed carriages scattered throughout.
“It seems many have become victims of the kobold attacks here. Look at all these ruins and numerous signs of fighting,” Yuan observed, noting the clear evidence of kobold attacks in the area.
“My goodness, the kobolds are really savage. They’ve destroyed so many carriages here. I wonder what happened to all those people who fell victim to the kobold assaults,” Rose exclaimed, her face filled with concern.
Seeing the concerned look on Rose’s face, Lily explained, “They were probably killed by the kobolds. They’re meat-eating monsters, so you can imagine the rest…”
“That’s… That’s horrible…” Rose gasped, taken aback by the grim reality.
Suddenly, Xi Meili’s voice resounded from behind, causing the Monroe sisters to turn their heads.
“You shouldn’t be surprised by this. After all, this is how the real world works, where the strong make the rules and the weak must obey them, even if those rules are unreasonable and full of nonsense.”
The Monroe sisters looked at Xi Meili with shock. How could a cute and innocent-looking Xi Meili suddenly be so serious?
“You should get used to the cruel reality of the world as soon as possible, because you’ll face much crueler beings in the future, which will make you doubt if they’re people or savage beasts in the skin of a human,” Xi Meili continued with a very serious expression. “It’s all about kill or be killed. With the slightest hesitation, you’ll be killed by your opponent without mercy.”
Yuan noticed the shocked expressions on the Monroe sisters’ faces and decided to steer the conversation. “Let’s go locate those kobolds. If we keep standing here and do nothing, we’ll run out of time and have to set up camp somewhere.”
“Right, let’s find their whereabouts,” Julie nodded eagerly, her hands itching for a fight.
After searching around for a moment, they noticed some footprints which are a little bit larger than a grown man, However, those footprints didn’t appear to be humans as they resembled the footprints of a reptilian species.
“Husband, don’t those footprints belong to the kobolds were looking for?” Emma immediately recognized those footprints at a single glance.
“That’s right, these are the footprints of the kobolds.” Yuan nodded with a smile on his face and continued. “But we won’t be able to find them with these footprints, because most of the footprints have disappeared already.”
“Let me use my divine sense to see if my divine sense locate their hideout, in this mountain area.” Yuan then quickly opened his divine sense, allowing him to look at the world from a totally different perspective and see the wood in a new light that isn’t possible to see using his physical eyes.
After opening his divine sense, everything within the 900-meter range was clearly visible to him, even some part of the underground.
After looking for the whereabouts of the kobold hideout for a minute, Yuan is finally able to locate them using his divine sense.
After finding the whereabouts of the kobolds, Yuan closed his divine sense turned to see his wives, and said, “I have found the Kobolds’ hideout.”
“Really?” Julie mumbled in an excited tone. “Where is the hideout then?”
“Their hideout is on the other side of that small mountain, there is a small lake and their cave is very close to that lake.” Yuan pointed at a small mountain at a distance. “There are more than 30 kobolds inside the cave, and also have a leader which is much larger compared to the rest of the kobolds.”
“Divine sense, what a unique and mysterious skill, allowing one to view the world with totally a different perspective,” Ava mumbled in a low voice fascinated by the ability of her husband’s divine sense. “I wonder when I’ll be able to open my divine sense.”
“I’m a special case, and because of that I was able to open my divine sense even with my low cultivation, however in your case, you’ll only be able to open your divine sense at reaching the Spirit Grandmaster realm cultivation,” Yuan chuckled and continued. “Let’s not waste any time in here and get to the other side of the mountain.”
“Un!” The Monroe sister quickly nodded with a face full of excitement.
Sometimes later, they reached the other side of the mountain and were heading toward the kobolds’ hideout by the side of the lake.
“There… That’s the hideout of the kobolds.” Yuan pointed at the small opening of a cave before them, the entrance was covered by some thick vines which worked as a camouflage to hide the entrance.
As they arrived before the entrance of the hideout, Xi Meili’s sharp nose caught something. “I can already smell the rotten smell of flesh and blood from the inside, and I also smell the lizards!” She said.
“Is that so? Well, it’s quite common since Kobolds are a bunch of meat-eating monsters.” Yuan smiled.
“Here, take your weapons, and don’t show any mercy towards any of them.” Yuan handed the Monroe sisters their weapons after quickly retrieving them from his system storage. “And if something goes wrong, we’ll take immediate action.”
“Let’s go, Rose,” Yuan said to Rose, who nodded with an excited glint in her gaze.
Yuan and his wives entered the cave shortly after, The Monroe sisters were at the front with their weapons ready and Yuan and his other wives followed them from behind.
“This place isn’t as dark as I’d expected,” Ava said after realizing that she was able to see inside very clearly despite how dark it looked from the outside.
“Well, that’s because after you guys become cultivators all your senses have been improved,” Yuan said.
And then he continued, “By the way, you all should be careful about your surroundings.”
“Huh? Does that mean the kobolds have noticed our intrusion within their hideout?”
However, Yuan shook his head and said, “Look below… So many bones and half-eaten limbs that are rotting, you might accidentally trip yourself and get seriously injured by your own weapons.”
The Monroe sisters’ eyes widened after hearing Yuan’s words, they immediately looked at the floor and saw there were countless bones and skulls are scattered all over the place, causing the Monroe sisters to horrified by the scene.
“Oh, my god. What is this, there are so many bones scattered throughout the cave, and some of them half-eaten rotten human limbs.” Ava almost cried out seeing the horrifying scene and felt like puking as she felt very disgusted, and she knew that she wouldn’t be able to eat anything later after witnessing this.
After that, they began to walk deeper into the cave until they encountered what appeared to be an entrance to another area of the cave.
Arriving at the entrance, a strong smell of blood and mud entered their nostrils, causing them to make an ugly expression from the disgusting stink.
“This is it, the kobolds are inside.” Yuan then looked at the Monroe sisters with a serious look on his face. “You three must be careful and always look at each other’s back, we’ll be keeping an eye on you guys from a distance.”
“You don’t need to worry too much about us, Husband. We’re not as weak as we used to be.” Rose smiled at Yuan before entering the cave with Julie and Ava.
Yaun and his wives also followed them and entered the cave.
Inside the cave, some of the kobolds are busy eating the flesh of the monster that they hunted, and the other kobolds are lying on the ground with mud covering their bodies, seemingly sleeping.
The Kobolds’ have dark green coloured skin covered in scales, and they have only three fingers which don’t look like fingers at all much like claws with sharp long nails that could tear apart thick armours with ease.
“So, these are the kobolds, huh? They’re much larger than I’d expected.” Ava quickly blinked at the massive figure of the kobolds nonstop when she saw the sharp nails coated with poison, with their rusty old weapons.
“But there are so many of them… Ah, they noticed us!” Julie suddenly pointed at all the kobolds, their head moved toward their direction after smelling their scent in the air, with killing intent radiating from their gazes.
“Roaaarrrrr!” One of the kobolds roared at the Monroe sisters, alerting the others about the intruders.
Shortly, The Monroe sisters were surrounded by more than 30 kobolds, with a mysterious glint in their eyes seeing their pray had delivered themselves within their territory.
