POV Vesuvius:
The three-winged angel vanished in the stream of dragon breath. Immediately all of the angels dimmed down, their wings woven from a light getting smaller and more transparent. Everything quieted down, the remaining angels faltering, all turning towards the huge black dragon with his shiny black scales with golden patterns exposed in the sky.
Their glowing eyes were flickering, with their resolve faltering for the first time.
Vesuvius finally closed his mouth, the last bits of neon-red magma raining towards the ground, splashing all over the destroyed landscape. His bubbling rage settled down, with all of the whispers finally vanishing with a strong feeling of satisfaction spreading from the cursed heart.
Multiple loud dings resounded in his mind as he finished multiple of his quests. He was in no mood to read through them as he had some important discoveries that he had to sort out while they were still fresh.
He quickly looked around him. Remnants of angelic forces were fighting all over the ground against the relentless attack of fearless players.
The reaper vanished, their cold death energy radiating from the distance of the mountains. Purple lights were still flashing on the horizon, occasionally illuminating the sky.
Vesuvius flapped his massive wings, his body turning back towards his tower, his mind feeling tired and strained. He couldn’t help but feel like he had had enough of the constant battles. He just wanted to take time off and spend some time quietly consolidating his power.
‘I am a dragon; I am not supposed to fight constantly.’
As he flew through the black sky, floating between the dark clouds emitted from his body, he tried to focus on his second heart, trying to summon back the flashback from the past of the ice dragon.
‘Respond to me! Show me more of your past.’
There was no response. The heart just continued quietly beating in his chest.
‘It awakened when I fought against that one angel. Is it possible that the angel took part in murdering the dragon? Or was it just because of the angel’s strength and the hatred of the ice dragon?’
Theories were passing through his mind as he pushed his own mana into the cursed heart, trying to poke it to awaken it from its slumber. There was no response, the heart ignoring all of his attempts.
‘Shit, I should have dragged that fight for longer. Maybe I would be able to awaken more of its power.’ Vesuvius felt regret but knew he couldn’t change the past, so he focused on what it signified.
He started to think about what curses even were in bigger depths. ‘This curse should be a product of the lingering regret and rage of the dying dragon. Their rage kept their heart and power alive even years after their death.’
Vesuvius could still remember the intense emotions from when he fought the angel, ‘It thirsts for revenge, so what If I can enact that revenge.’
The cursed heart suddenly started to beat louder, the cold energy once again spreading through his body, his golden reptilian eyes flashing in neon-red colour.

The cold feeling vanished as suddenly as it came leaving behind only a sliver of intent, encouraging Vesuvius to do it.
The dragon’s eyes returned to gold, a bright light shining out of them as he realised what a treasure he stumbled upon, ‘Legacy mission! Maybe I can get some powers of the winter dragon for free or at least some of its strength as extra stats.’
Legacy missions were rare and often dangerous missions that brought great rewards in the form of skills and unique titles belonging to their giver. One had to build a relationship with NPC to trigger this mission with painstaking efforts.
Vesuvius felt both of his hearts beat like drummers on drugs as an insane idea started forming in his head.
‘Levels are not enough; I need even more power! My levelling will slow down sooner or later. So maybe I should travel around the world to find the resting places of dead dragons and harvest all of their resentment and legacies to make myself even more powerful.’
Vesuvius felt his instincts telling him that it was the right path, ‘It worked once, so it can work a second time. So many dragons were killed worldwide, and they can all become my power!’
The dragon kept flapping his wings as he slowly flew back home, his black tower getting larger as he kept getting closer.
‘Well, I should check what I got from my quests.’

The dragon felt his mood go up and down like on a rollercoaster as he read through his rewards, his eyes brightening up and then dimming down, ‘These cores are useless for my metamorphosis as I am not planning to go that way. I feel like it wouldn’t be very compatible with my planned build. The holy and light elements would fight against my curse powers. A for the rest, the gold is always best, and the free level is also worth it.’

‘More materials. I wonder If I can use that blood to make my monsters even stronger, if even by a little.’ Vesuvius couldn’t help but imagine all of the possible uses for the blood, his golden eyes shining from just thinking about it.
