Chapter 435: Chapter 436: Xiao Shu is not Afraid
Several hours later.
In the deep mountains outside of Jiang City.
Inside an abandoned dilapidated house, Lingyue and Xiao Shumiao are tied back to back.
Lingyue is the first to wake up in a daze. He looks around bewildered and, with a jolt, suddenly becomes fully alert.
Turning his head, he quietly speaks to Xiao Shumiao who is tied to him, “Xiao Shu, wake up, Xiao Shu…”
Xiao Shumiao wakes up slowly.
Upon realizing he’s tied up, he panics, “Brother Xiaoyue…”
Hearing the cry in his voice, Lingyue immediately comforts him, “It’s alright, Xiao Shu, don’t be afraid. Brother Xiaoyue is here. Brother Xiaoyue will get us out of here, don’t be afraid, Xiao Shu.”
“Okay, I’m not scared,” says Xiao Shumiao, holding back his tears, and then quietly asking, “Brother Xiaoyue, were we kidnapped?”
He remembers going to the washroom with Brother Xiaoyue.
As he was pulling up his trousers, suddenly someone covered his mouth and nose from behind.
A stinging smell rushed into his nostrils. He didn’t have time to shout for help, his head became dizzy and he gradually lost consciousness.
“Yes,” Lingyue whispers in response. “Don’t be afraid, Xiao Shu. Don’t move. We’re going to untie these ropes on our hands first.”
Xiao Shumiao obediently nods.
Lingyue strains his hands, twisting his small hands back and forth within the ropes.
Children’s bones are soft. A few minutes later, he manages to free his hands from the ropes but not without enduring extreme pain.
Several patches of skin have been scraped off his little hands, blood is dripping.
Ignoring the pain, he unties the ropes around Xiao Shumiao’s hands and whispers, “We’re going to crawl out through the window. Xiao Shu, you go first. No matter what happens, you absolutely can’t make a sound. Do you understand?”
He had listened carefully earlier, there were people talking outside the door, but not outside the window.
Probably this shabby house was a forester’s abandoned house.
He can see the dense forest outside through the window.
As long as they run into the forest, they can hide.
Master and his wife will surely come to rescue them!
Looking at Lingyue’s bloody hands, Xiao Shumiao nods his head fiercely, tears glistening in his eyes.
It seems as if the blood dripping from Lingyue’s hands is not his. He takes Xiao Shumiao’s hand, and then tiptoes to the window, lifting Xiao Shumiao onto the window sill.
The window is wooden, weather-beaten and terribly rotten.
Xiao Shumiao squeezes through a gap in the window, looking down hesitantly after reaching the other side. The window sill is high, and he feels scared.
But then he thinks of Lingyue’s bloody hands and his lips tighten; shutting his eyes, he jumps down.
He must be brave and escape with Brother Xiaoyue.
Only when they return home can Brother Xiaoyue get medical treatment for his hands.
He lands on the ground with a “thud”.
Lingyue hears people talking outside the door. One speaks up with a gruff voice, “What was that noise? Have those two brats woken up?”
Lingyue doesn’t waste a second. He scrambles onto the window sill, jumps down swiftly, takes Xiao Shumiao’s hand, and pulls him to run deep into the mountain forest.
The one keeping a watch outside hears another “thud”, and hurriedly pushes open the door. “Could it be that those two brats have escaped?”
“How is that possible?” the other person thinks he’s overthinking it. “Those two brats who haven’t even been weaned yet, still tied up, where could they run to?”
“Fuck!” swears the one who opened the door. “It’s true. Those two brats have run away.”
The other person is startled and pokes his head inside the room to check.
The two children that were tied together are gone. Only a messy pile of ropes remains on the ground.
