Lokan felt as though he had stumbled into the den of thieves.
The unhidden, green-glowing eyes filled with desire made him shudder slightly.
The irony of it all was that he had relentlessly pursued the opportunity to join the Sage Selene’s Potion Research Group as an experimental subject.
On reflection, something seemed off.
It was as if he had willingly become a helpless lamb, set to be logically and reasonably tormented by Link Grande.
Damn it.
“Link, rein it in a bit!”
From her elevated position, Sage Selene had a clear view of Link’s shifting demeanor.
She also perceptively picked up on the changing breath of Lokan standing behind her and his sudden mix of resentful and aggrieved emotions.
She shot Link a disapproving glance and scolded him.
“Heh heh.”
Baring his teeth in a grin, Link’s eyes were not as ablaze as before.
Indeed he had made a noticeable attempt to compose himself.
However, his gaze was still firmly fixated on Lokan.
Looking at Link’s sophisticated yet debauched demeanor behind his gold-rimmed glasses, Lokan became even more irritated.
Had Link already made up his mind about him?
It seemed that Link had already set his expectations.
Would it still be possible for him to withdraw now?
Sage Selene shook her head, choosing not to intervene in the conflict between Link and Lokan.
Officially, the dispute between the two had been settled as they had chosen to let bygones be bygones.
Indeed, Lokan had come forward to apologize and submitted himself as an experimental subject, thereby providing valuable data.
However, it was in fact Link who had made the move to hold back and retreat which ultimately led to the resolution.
Now, with Lokan presenting himself and Link gaining more power, the fear of Lokan was disappearing.
Given the opportunity, Link, true to his character, would surely want to take revenge.
To make Lokan experience some hardship.
“What a petty guy!”
Sage Selene criticized Link under her breath and continued outlining her plans for the Potion Research Group.
First on the list was staff allocation.
There were five main researchers: Link, Jasmine, Tina, and Assad;
Lokan would be the experimental subject and the group’s “security”.
Sharia was in charge of external networking;
While Ayla was responsible for overseeing operations.
Given the integrated environment of research and production, any successful experiments from the Potion Research Group would inevitably need to be put into production.
Establishing a new industrial system was crucial.
Next was work hours.
Considering that Link and Jasmine still needed to continue their studies and that Sharia, Ayla, and Tina needed to make use of their rare opportunity to be part of the main college to improve themselves,
Sage Selene stipulated that the main work hours would be over the weekends, with part-time hours on weekday nights if time permitted.
There would be no need for additional work hours provided the project’s progress stayed on track.
A flexible working system was the main course of the plan.
Lastly was benefits.
There wasn’t much to discuss, the college covered most of the costs.
The greatest benefit was Sage Selene inviting them to be part of the Potion Research Group.
After wrapping up the arrangements, it was exactly noon. The entire Potion Research Group, took the opportunity to strengthen team cohesion, gathering to have lunch together.
Afterward, everyone disbanded and returned to their respective residences.
When Link and Jasmine returned to the villa, they found a group of people blocking the main entrance.
Their backup vehicle they typically used to get around couldn’t get in.
The situation seemed troublesome.
“What’s going on?”
Link gestured for Jasmine to remain in the car while he got out to ask straightforwardly.
“So you’re Link Grande?”
A man blocking the road, who spoke with an odd tone and looked at people down his nose, queried.
“I am. What’s the issue?”
Link’s brows knitted together, he asked again.
“We’ve got orders from higher up to invite you over to a place. You coming or not?”
The man continued to look at Link snootily, his words and demeanor conveyed the confidence that it would be a great privilege for Link to accept his invitation.
After stating his piece, he waited for Link to enthusiastically drop to his knees in gratitude.
Link could feel a surge of irritation rising within him.
Sage Selene had warned him not to get involved in the feuds of aristocratic families.
Sandra had reminded him not to accept any invitations to join clubs.
Both were telling him to avoid conflict, not to get involved in any trouble.
That was his intention as well.
To focus on his studies and elevating himself.
However, it seemed that even Dean Frist’s fame couldn’t turn away these irksome storms.
As he thought about it, Link’s face turned slightly gloomy, and he said coldly:
“I’m sorry. Please leave. Tell your employer that my admission paperwork was personally handled by Dean Frist. The first two people I met upon arrival at the main college yesterday were Great Sage Revo and Great Sage Seuss.
If they insist on inviting me to wherever it is, then I’m afraid I’ll have to decline.
Upon hearing this, the man’s demeanor changed abruptly.
He looked panicked and angry.
Before coming, they indeed knew that Dean Frist had personally handled Link and Jasmine’s admission process.
But so what?
As long as they didn’t cripple him, weren’t they free to toy with him however they wished?
Even if they went a tad too far, their seniors would step in to ease the situation.
Living the life of a prodigal son involved stirring up trouble from time to time to maintain the image!
However, they were genuinely unaware that Great Sage Revo and Great Sage Seuss had deliberately met with Link and Jasmine.
This changed the situation completely!
His expression fluctuated between multiple emotions. Eventually, the man swallowed his rage at Link’s lack of face, motioned towards his comrades and left the scene with tails between their legs.
As for any subsequent moves or power flexing, the man had no authority to make those calls.
