There were probably even more spells than these.
But from what Alex could tell, these were probably the ones Arceus relied on in battle.
Each of them felt impossibly strong, far beyond what Alex’s own spells could handle.
Even if he combined all of his most powerful mage attacks, it likely wouldn’t match a single one of Arceus’ maxed-out spells.
The sheer energy radiating from Arceus’ body was overwhelming.
His long robe rippled as magic pulsed through him.
Slowly, he lifted his staff, pointing it straight at Alex.
Among those abilities, one of them had to be his Forbidden Spell.
His strongest move.
The kind of spell that could wipe entire cities off the map.
It probably wasn’t as strong as World Cleaver, but it didn’t matter.
If it hit, Alex would die.
Could he even counter something like that?

Not enough.
He had already lost ten points just from undoing the damage of Arceus’ explosion earlier.
If he wanted to survive, he had to avoid taking direct hits.
That meant dodging as much as possible and landing attacks whenever he could to restore his Destiny Points.
But there was another problem.
His usual attacks wouldn’t do much against Arceus.
He needed something stronger.
Arceus was a mage, that meant his mobility was probably lower compared to warriors or assassins.
And good for Alex, he was mainly focused on close-ranged combat as of late.
But even then…
All Elements Fox Summons! Rise!
With a surge of mana, Alex summoned his undead army, and one hundred skeletons clawed their way out of the ground.
Alongside them, ten ethereal foxes materialized, each one representing an element: fire, water, lightning, light, darkness.
Two for each type, like always.
It was a solid force, but before Alex could even make a move…
Arceus calmly raised his staff toward the sky.
Celestial Judgment!
[Effect: Calls down 12 holy swords from the sky, each one targeting and homing in on an enemy, dealing true damage.]
Suddenly, just like the skill description said, twelve massive holy swords descended from above.
Each one locked onto their targets with lethal precision.
The swords carved through Alex’s summons like they were made of paper.
His undead shattered, their bones crumbling into dust.
His foxes let out one last cry before vanishing into nothingness.
Then, after everything was gone, the swords turned to him.
Alex clenched his claws.
He couldn’t afford to waste a single movement.
In a flurry of quick slashes, he parried and deflected the incoming swords.
They were extremely sturdy, and if he met them head on they could clash with him, the only way to shatter them was to hit them sideways.
He moved fast, his hands a blur of motion.
Still, it took him nearly a full minute to destroy them all.

“It’s not gonna work,” he said, shaking his head, “Try again. But this time, use your real spells.”
Alex could, of course, wanted to summon his undead again.
The swords had a cooldown, so Arceus wouldn’t be able to use them endlessly.
But still…
Alex had a feeling that even if he tried again, Arceus would have another way to counter him.
Besides, he didn’t want to rely on his summons this time.
This fight needed to be one-on-one.
Arceus raised an eyebrow.
“No more holding back,” he said, “I was already nice enough to not blast you the moment you let your guard down.”
Alex exhaled slowly, steadying himself.
This was it.
The swords he had destroyed had given him 18 Destiny Points, bringing him up to 44.
That was enough for four Destiny Shifts… or something even better.
Threads of Fate!
Immediately, the world around him changed.
Golden lines appeared, intertwining with Arceus’ body.
They revealed his future movements, allowing Alex to see what he would do next.
And right now, Arceus was about to unleash another spell.
Phantom Chains!
[Effect: Summons arcane chains that bind the enemy, slowing them down and sealing ALL skills for 5 seconds.]
Transparent chains erupted from Arceus’ staff.
They spread out in every direction.
Alex saw it coming a second before it happened.
He moved before the chains could fully form, dashing between the gaps in their pattern.
A few managed to scrape against his body, slowing him down.
But not enough to stop him or seal his abilities since they would need to actually bind him.
He broke free before they could fully take hold.
Arceus clicked his tongue in mild annoyance.
“Tch. Lucky guess?”
Alex didn’t answer.
He was already moving forward.
His Bleeding Dragon Claws glowed with a blood-red aura as he rapidly approached Arceus’ position.
And then… he slashed.
But instead of meeting flesh…
Supreme Magic Barrier!
[Effect: Summons a transparent shield that absorbs up to 500 million damage. If destroyed, it explodes outward, dealing 10% of the absorbed damage to all enemies within 100 meters.]
CRACK!
A transparent shield formed between them, blocking his attack completely.
His claws cut straight through the barrier, shattering it instantly.
But—
BOOM!
The explosion sent him flying back.
He flipped midair, landing on his feet.
The impact forced him to retreat several meters, and he only didn’t die because he saw it coming.
Alex clicked his tongue.
He needed more Destiny Points, and he needed them fast.
Arceus lifted his staff again.
“Fine. Then let’s see how long you can keep that up.”
Lightning Cataclysm!
[Summons five divine thunderbolts, each striking a different target with immense speed and power.]
Five bolts of golden lightning rained down from the sky.
Each one aimed straight for him.
Alex dodged three.
The fourth grazed his shoulder, sending a painful jolt through his body.
But the fifth hit him.
Destiny Shift!
[Undoing damage…]
The damage reversed instantly, but his Destiny Points were draining fast.
He had to end this soon.
“This isn’t working in my favor,” Alex whispered, “I can avoid him forever, but it’s not enough… so…”
He took a deep breath as he was ready to push the battle into its next phase.
If he didn’t do that, then he would never be able to win.
Wings of Destiny!
A powerful gust of wind exploded from his back as the massive dragon wings emerged again, spreading wide.
With a single flap, he launched into the sky, rising above Arceus.
In the air, he had more control.
He could attack from better angles.
He could—
“Magical Elevation.”
Arceus casually floated up to meet him, as if gravity didn’t exist.
“Oh,” Alex narrowed his eyes.
Arceus smirked, “I can fly too, kiddo.”
They locked eyes.
A moment of silence.
Then, Arceus twirled his staff.
“I think this fight is gonna drag on.”
“Yeah,” Alex agreed, his claws glowing with power, “Let’s stop messing around.”
Alex’s confidence was slightly boosted since in the air, he could avoid better and not get hit as much.
“Was gonna say the same thing.”
And with that… The real battle began.
