Alex, Lira, the minotaur, and the cloaked man stood in front of five dragons.
The dragon clones hovered above the ground, wings flapping, their piercing eyes locked onto the group.
The minotaur cracked his knuckles, his muscles flexing with anticipation.
“I’M GONNA DESTROY THEM!” he roared, ready to take on a dragon with nothing but his fists.
The cloaked man didn’t move.
His eyes were closed, his expression unreadable, he didn’t even seem to acknowledge those things.
“…”
Lira, the white-haired angel, floated slightly off the ground, her shimmering barrier glowing softly around her.
She summoned her [Mercy Spear], the weapon gleaming pure white, its edges flowing like gentle waves.
“Will this guy ever shut up?” she muttered, glancing at the minotaur man, who was repeatedly slamming his chest with his fists.
He laughed, unbothered by her comment.
“I prefer the women from the strong minotaur clan, at least they got character.”
“Whatever,” Lira replied, rolling her eyes.
Alex, standing beside them, summoned his [Hatred Claws] and the [Demonized Staff of Hatred].
He glanced at the staff, frowning slightly.
‘I didn’t upgrade the staff…’
He had been too preoccupied before.
Between dealing with Alphox, the trial and recovering his energy, upgrading the staff had slipped his mind.
But that wasn’t his biggest problem right now.

His Destiny Points were dangerously low.
Looking at the dragons before him, he knew that the fight wouldn’t be that hard, since they only had a fraction of the original’s power.
But even then, he couldn’t afford to not have Destiny Points at the start of a battle.
Even Kaelios, the all-powerful god, one of the strongest beings in Universal Descent, had told Alex that he kept his destiny points to his limits, which were 300, just in case anything happened.
So, instead of focusing on the dragons, he turned to his “teammates.”
Lira? Too much attitude. She wouldn’t cooperate.
The cloaked man? Definitely not. That guy was a walking edge lord, and probably wouldn’t let him approach.
In fact, his face was hidden, so Alex didn’t even know which race he was from.
But what about the minotaur? He might be the perfect candidate.
Alex moved closer to him and started tapping his waist repeatedly, the highest spot Alex could reach given the height difference.
“…What the hell are you doing,” the minotaur grumbled, glaring down at him.
“What? Are my small punches hurting you?” Alex shot back with a smirk. “Weak humans can hurt the great minotaur clan now, huh?”
That was his plan.
Play into his pride, annoy him just enough to keep hitting him, and use that to refill his Destiny Points.
And it worked.
“Hah? You think a weak human can hurt me!” the minotaur puffed out his chest. “Hit me with all you’ve got!”
Ignoring the bravado, Alex kept hitting, the taps light but persistent.
Slowly, his Destiny Points climbed.

Once he maxed out, Alex stepped back.
“Wow! The minotaur clan is strong,” he added for good measure.
“Of course! Haha, at least you know it, human!” the man boomed, laughing heartily.
High above them, Xyrran’s clone hovered, wings spread wide, observing the scene from above.
It didn’t seem like he was planning to attack just yet.
That meant each of them would have to deal with one of the primordial dragon clones.
At least… that would’ve been the normal scenario.
But Alex was done playing fair.
Fated Cataclysm!
He summoned a golden orb in his hands, pouring a lot of his Destiny Points and energy into it.
The orb pulsed with power before he launched it into the sky.
It began to grow, swirling like a massive vortex of golden light.
[30 seconds before explosion.]
A timer appeared in front of his vision.
Once the countdown hit zero, the cataclysm would unleash.
Now all he had to do was survive until then.
The dragons didn’t wait. They dashed toward their respective targets.

As the dragons charged, the team readied themselves.
“Name’s Clovox, not minotaur,” Clovox grunted, cracking his neck.
“Draven,” the cloaked man mumbled softly.
Alex barely had time to note their names before the first impact.
BOOM! BOOM!
The ground shook with each collision, the air thick with dust and energy as the battles began.

Only two seconds had passed, but that was fine. Alex had a plan.
Threads of Fate.!
Golden threads burst into existence, wrapping around Seraphyxis’s body, displaying its movements.

Fated Cataclysm needed 30 seconds to charge, but Threads of Fate lasted for a full minute.
It was the perfect combo. Nearly unbeatable.
The only way he could lose now was if someone else interfered.
But even then, he still had one Destiny Shift left and the ability to gain more Destiny Points.
Seraphyxis lashed out with its claws, but Alex danced around the attacks effortlessly.
The golden threads showed the dragon’s movements enough to make dodging easy.
These clones were weak compared to the real dragons.
They didn’t even start with long-range attacks, relying instead on basic skills like [Strike], [Bite], and one random ability from their original counterparts.
They were just shadows of the real thing, and so that was all they were given.
No wonder Astariel managed to clear them that fast.
[24 seconds before explosion.]
Confident in his dodging, Alex glanced at the others while still evading Seraphyxis’s attacks.
Lira was handling Orvion with ease.
Her [Mercy Spear] flashed through the air, deflecting the dragon’s strikes and countering with powerful thrusts.
It was a one-sided fight.
After just ten seconds, she activated [Divine Shot], her spear piercing through Orvion’s neck.
Energy surged into the dragon.
BOOM!
Orvion’s neck inflated grotesquely before exploding, the body collapsing to the ground.
‘Mercy Spear, but not that merciful, huh,’ Alex thought.
Meanwhile, Clovox was practically toying with Xeltharion.
The chaos dragon’s attacks bounced off his skin as if they were nothing.
Bored, Clovox finally lunged forward, grabbing the dragon’s jaws.
With a roar, he forced them apart and ripped the dragon’s head in two with his bare hands.
Draven, on the other hand, looked like he was losing.
Vaelros’s attacks slashed through him, blood splattering the ground.
But Draven didn’t flinch, his face remained neutral beneath the cloak, as if the pain didn’t even register.
And then, when he was cut up enough, he whispered a single word.
“Return.”
Waves of dark energy burst from his body, slamming into Vaelros.
The dragon staggered before collapsing, lifeless.
‘He can take damage and send it back?’ Alex thought, dodging another of Seraphyxis’s strikes. ‘Is he actually immortal?’
With everyone else done, Alex figured it was time to end his fight too.
Dodging one last attack, he lunged forward with his [Bleeding Claws].
The claws tore into Seraphyxis’s neck, hitting its weak point.
He stabbed it again and again.
[Weakness hit! Weakness hit!]
[Bleed!]
The dragon staggered, blood pouring from its wounds.
Within three seconds, it collapsed, defeated.

All the dragons were down before the Fated Cataclysm even went off.
But it wasn’t over yet.
High above, Xyrran’s clone still hovered, untouched.
And unlike the others, this one radiated an entirely different level of power.
