Chapter 14: Someone said he didn't want to be Spider-Man, but secretly designed a whole suit

Chapter 14: Someone said he didn't want to be Spider-Man, but secretly designed a whole set of suits "We have an obligation to use our superpowers to make this world a better place." Peter walked to Bant's bed and looked at him seriously: “Because with great power comes great responsibility.” "So?" Bant pushed the pillow up a little, leaned on it, and looked at Peter with a different gaze. Peter felt a little uncomfortable being looked at by him, and subconsciously twisted his body. He realized that Bant seemed to disagree with what he said. "So we can become a hero, like Iron Man." Peter said excitedly, gesticulating. Then, he pinched his chin and fantasized, "We can choose a suitable code name, such as... "…Human Spider or Spider Duo, what do you think?" "If you want to be a superhero, go by yourself. Don't take me with you. I can only wish you success." Bant turned over. He was indeed a little disdainful of this, but he didn't intend to dissuade Peter. In any case, Peter has the right to choose his own life and the right to be who he wants to be. And, while Bant has no intention of being a hero, there's no need for him to be cynical about someone who would. Peter's idea was good, but Bant just didn't have that kind of passion. "Wish me success? Aren't you going to join me?" Peter asked in surprise. He couldn't understand why Bant didn't care about being a hero at all.

"Of course not," Bant said. "What good would it do me to be a hero?" He looked at Peter seriously, shook his head and said, "There is no benefit, only trouble." "But being a hero is so cool, just like Iron Man. Do you know how many people like him? Do you know how many people are crazy about him?" Peter said excitedly, "As long as we can become a hero, there will be many people who like us and admire us..." He thought that if he became a hero, he could be someone else, shiny and bright and famous, instead of being nothing like he was now, just a nobody, just Peter Parker. "Forget it, Peter." Bant didn't want to hit him, but seeing Peter's innocence, he said coldly, "Even so, they only like and admire Spider-Man, not Peter Parker." He didn't mind Peter becoming a superhero at all, but if Peter started out with this idea in mind, it would only hurt him when he realized the huge contrast between reality and reality. "But Spider-Man is Peter Parker." Peter didn't quite understand what Bant meant, but he accepted the name "Spider-Man" anyway. Hearing this, Bant sat up from the bed and his eyes became serious. "No, Spider-Man can't be Peter Parker!" Bant stared at Peter with a look that made Peter feel biologically, or even food-chain, oppression, as if Bant was not his cousin but his murderous natural enemy. But he still didn't understand. "Do you think you can be like Tony Stark, standing in front of hundreds of reporters and loudly announcing to the world, 'I am Iron Man'?" Bant imitated Stark's cocky tone. "why not?" "Come on, Tony Stark dares to admit his identity because he is Tony Stark. He has the Stark Group as his backing. Even without the armor, no crime can hurt him or his family. But what about you? What do you have?" "Have you ever thought about what would happen if you took off your mask and told everyone that Spider-Man is Peter Parker?" Bant stood up and reached out to push Peter away from the bed. Peter's body seemed almost weightless in his hands. In fact, Peter was completely stunned, Bant's words echoing in his mind and the horrible and bloody scene unfolding before his eyes. "Uncle Ben and Aunt May will be in danger. What do you think those criminals who were defeated by you will do when they know they can't deal with you and hate you to the core?" "They will target Uncle Ben and Aunt May..." Peter turned pale and stuttered when he thought of this. "I'm glad your brain is not broken." Bant said. In fact, he knew that Peter would not ignore this point. This kid was just dazzled by the beautiful illusion.

He just wanted to remind Peter that in countless universes, there have been cases where Spider-Man's identity was exposed, resulting in injuries or even deaths to his loved ones Mary Jane and Aunt May. Spider-Man is always struggling in pain and desolation. Every time his life seems to be changing for the better, fate plays a cruel joke on him. "Okay," Peter nodded vigorously. He understood that Bant was right, but his mind was not changed. Maybe Spider-Man cannot be Peter Parker, but what cannot be changed is that Peter Parker is Spider-Man. He could keep his identity a secret, but anyone cheering for Spider-Man was actually cheering for him. "At least, I'm still doing good things, right? The greater the ability, the greater the responsibility. I don't necessarily need others to thank me in person." But Peter didn't know that becoming a hero wouldn't just bring him praise. He also couldn't understand how sad it felt to be misunderstood by others even though he had done good things. But Bant didn't intend to continue talking to him. He didn't need to undermine Peter's confidence. For some things, only when Peter himself has experienced them can he understand the taste of them. Of course, he also understood that these difficulties could not defeat Spider-Man, let alone Peter Parker. What's more, Peter really needs a superhero identity. He has always been the unknown Peter Parker, small and inconspicuous, even his classmates might ignore him. Since childhood, the girls he liked would not even look at him. But it is different now. He had the opportunity and ability to change himself, so why would Bant deprive him of it? Even though Peter has to keep his powers a secret, being Spider-Man still fills some void in him. At least when in that costume, he was the Mighty Spider-Man, not Peter Parker. "So, if you really want to fight criminals, you must have a handsome uniform!" Bant pulled Peter to the desk and sat him down, then pulled out a stack of draft paper and opened it. Peter was immediately stunned by the contents of the manuscript. "Wait, you said you didn't want to be a superhero?" "I don't want to." "But you secretly designed a whole suit and even thought of the name Spider-Man?!" Please read the book.
