Vernon Village
Two guards sat idly at the village’s main gate, exchanging idle chatter under the dim glow of lantern light.
“So… what’s for dinner tonight?” one asked, stretching his arms with a yawn.
“What do you think? Bread and some meat soup.”
“Lucky bastard. We’re still saving up for a new house—can’t afford meat and look at you rich filthy son of a bitch, Eating meat soup huh ?”
“Not even the cheap—wait, who’s that?” The guard on the right suddenly stiffened, pointing toward a shadowy figure approaching the village.
Both of them stood up from their chairs and grabbed their spears tightly.
“That’s the kid who got beaten up by the chief’s son… Leon, I think his name is?” the other guard replied, squinting into the darkness.

Leon smirked as he spotted the guards. ‘These two idiots… might make good test subjects for my skill.’
“Glitch,” he muttered under his breath, activating the ability.
Immediately, his vision adjusted. The guard on the right had a faint red glow on his left knee, while the one on the left had a similar mark on his right shoulder.
‘Weak points… or old injuries?’ Leon mused as he casually approached them.
“Evening, gentlemen,” he greeted with an easy smile.
“Evening, Leon,” the chubbier of the two acknowledged him. “Where’ve you been this late?”
“Ah, got a job in the kingdom. Butcher shop. The owner doesn’t let me leave early, so… yeah, it gets late.” He lied effortlessly, maintaining an unreadable expression.
“Hey, your hand… it’s bruised. There’s even some blood. Got into a fight?” The leaner guard leaned forward, inspecting Leon’s knuckles.
“Yeah. Some guy tried to snatch my money. So, I gave him a good punch and bolted.” Leon grinned.
The chubby guard chuckled. “You don’t look that strong.”
“Neither was he. Just some scrawny thief.” Leon waved dismissively before tilting his head toward the guard. “By the way, how’s your knee?”
The guard flinched. “Ah… better than before, I suppose. But… wait. How do you know about that? I never told anyone except my wife.”
Leon’s mind raced for an excuse, but before he could speak, the other guard scoffed. “Women, man. You tell them something, and it spreads like wildfire. Your wife probably told the village ladies, and the news got around.”
“But… you didn’t know,” the chubby guard argued.
“Well, now I do. See? News travels fast.”
Leon resisted the urge to roll his eyes. ‘These two are supposed to protect the village? With brains this tiny?’
“So, what happened to your knee?” he asked, feigning curiosity.
The chubby guard sighed. “Not much of a story. We were out hunting horned rabbits but stumbled into a thornboar’s cave. Had to run for our lives. Its offspring chased us, and one of them shot a thorn straight through my knee. It still hurts like hell if you touch it. If their mother had been home… well, we wouldn’t be talking right now.”
“Yeah,” the leaner guard chimed in. “I took a thorn to my shoulder. We went to the church for healing, but they wanted a silver coin each. I mean, if I had a silver, I’d stop feeling pain instantly, Hahaha!”
“Hahaha!… Yeah, me too.”
The two burst into laughter, seemingly amused by their own misery.
Leon sighed and walked past them without another word. ‘So, the skill highlights vulnerabilities. That could be useful…’
He glanced around the village. Red dots shimmered on the walls of various houses—weak structures, hidden cracks, places susceptible to damage. ‘Interesting.’
With a flick of his fingers, he deactivated the skill and approached his home. He knocked twice.
Knock-knock.
A sweet voice rang from inside. “Comingggg!”
The sound of hurried footsteps approached, followed by the soft click of the door unlocking. As it swung open, the first thing to cross the threshold wasn’t Elaine’s face—but her huge boobs, bouncing like crazy.
